PSAid (Public Service Announcements for International Disasters) hosts an annual contest inviting design students to create promotional material for their 'Cash is Best' campaign. This collection of social media graphics was my 2023 submission.
When conceptualizing this project, I focused on the types of losses that are most urgent to address after a disaster — specifically, shelter and healthcare. I discovered that donations often perceived as too small to matter can actually make a significant impact for those affected. Because healthcare and shelter needs vary greatly from person to person and family to family, cash donations are the most effective way to provide meaningful support.
In terms of the design, I aimed for a clean and concise look, while incorporating a visual motif that felt unique to this campaign. I hand-drew the icons so I could experiment with different ways of referencing cash throughout each message.
